I find that the key to feeling great in a great outfit is great underwear! When you wear rocking undergarments it makes it so you're stellar from the very beginning. This is kind of an interesting topic because in most cases no one really sees your underwear except you so really your lingerie is entirely your pick, but there are a few guidelines when choosing what articles to buy and which to just leave on the rack.
Lingerie isn't just necessarily the lacy bustier or skimpy Victoria's Secret nightgown, but rather it has the broader definition of women's underwear. Going on that understanding of lingerie I'll concede that it's definitely fun to wear panties of all different colors and prints—it spices you up from underneath! However, wear brightly colored lingerie with discretion (this includes both panties and bras). In theory, underwear isn't meant to be seen and so you don't want people to see your blue and purple polka dot panties through your white skirt or your fuchsia bra through your cream blouse. When you can see a woman's lingerie through her clothes it just looks trashy and unrefined. Feel free to wear your cherry, leopard, and aqua underwear when you're wearing opaque clothing like jeans or a dark t-shirt.
Pick lingerie that fits. I know it sounds like a no-brainer, but seriously, lingerie that's the right size will do you a world of good. It will be more comfortable and you'll probably keep it longer. Buy panties that are big enough so they don't slide down your butt all day and don't buy a bra too big so the straps are constantly slipping down.
Avoid purchasing lingerie that's supposed to show. No one wants to see a cheetah print, chain-embellished thong peeking out over your pants—that's gross. No one wants to see your bra strap or any other part of your bra peeking out of your top. It's simple: underwear that's designed to show or underwear that happens to show is not attractive or flattering—it's crass and trashy.
Lingerie is one of those things that can make you feel pretty even underneath your clothes. It can give you that extra boost and that extra confidence you need. Take thought when choosing your lingerie and remember that lingerie doesn't have to be sleazy to be flattering.
