Human Hair Extensions

Sometimes chopping your hair short can be a nice feeling. However, you may be in trouble when you decide that you want your hair long again. Growing out your hair can be frustrating. It can take months—and even years—to get your hair to a long length. If you want long hair for an important event you have coming up (e.g. a wedding, a high school prom, or a beauty pageant), or if you are just tired of trying to grow out your hair, consider using human hair extensions.

Many celebrities today wear hair extensions, so they can quickly shift their hair from being short to long and back to short again. If you get quality hair extensions, no one should be able to tell that it's not actually your hair. Human hair extensions are more costly than hair extensions made out of synthetic hair, but they look more natural (as they are made of actual hair). Another benefit of having real hair instead of synthetic hair is that you can style it. Synthetic hair will singe or melt if you use a straightener or a curling iron on it. Human hair, however, should be able to withstand the heat.

Once you decide that you want to get hair extensions, you have a few more decisions to make. One of the most important parts of getting human hair extensions is matching the color of the extensions to the color of your own hair. Also, you will need to decide if you want them to be curly or straight (keep in mind that you will need to be able to style the rest of your hair like the extensions). It's best to go to a salon and have them help you pick out the right extensions for you. Ordering online can be dangerous because you don't know the exact color of hair you are going to be getting.

Another factor you will need to decide on is what style of hair extension you want. You can buy a hairpiece (such as an up-do or a ponytail) that is already styled. Or, you can buy clip-on extensions that go underneath the rest of your hair. This allows you to wear your hair down with your hair extensions. The type of extensions that look the most real are those that are braided or threaded into your own hair. You will need to get these type of extensions done at a salon. They are the most expensive kind, but also look the best.
