It's always really frustrating when your lipstick doesn't stick; it seems like you put it on and then the next thing you know, it doesn't even look like you did anything in the first place. So how do you make your lipstick last longer? Is there a magic spell you use or is it just that way for certain people? Fortunately there are ways to remedy the lipstick-that-doesn't-stick problem and it's not that hard!
The first step comes in choosing a good lipstick. If you have the opportunity, choose a quality brand. (You won't go wrong by choosing a name brand when it comes to cosmetics.) Many cosmetic companies offer special "long lasting" lipsticks, some supposedly having the ability to last all day. If you want to try one of these, go ahead—it doesn't hurt, and you may find a great one for the types of wear-and-tear you go through in a day.
When you settle on a lipstick and are ready to put it on, it's a good idea to make sure your lips are moisturized. If they aren't, then your lips will probably just absorb whatever moisture they can from the lipstick. This can leave your lips looking like you don't have any lipstick on at all.
Another trick I've found useful is to apply a thin layer of lip gloss over your lipstick to seal it in and give your lips an extra-polished sheen. With the combination of lipstick and lip gloss, you'll have a much better shot at having your lipstick last longer. Do realize, however, that if you eat or drink anything your lipstick will probably come off. For this reason, it is usually a good idea to check your makeup and retouch your lips after a meal.
Making your lipstick last longer definitely isn't difficult and once you know a few simple tricks, you can have your lips looking great and sophisticated all the time!
