Tricks for Fast Skin Care

Written by Doris Donnerman (last updated March 8, 2021)

In this world that seems to be going at extra-fast speed, it seems like we are always looking for shortcuts or ways to do things faster. Taking care of our skin is no different. There are ways taking care of our skin can be accomplished in less time. Using some of these little tricks you will be surprised by how much time you can save.

Wash your face wisely by using a cream cleanser that can be removed with a tissue. This works best for nighttime cleaning. Cream cleansers are normally made with oil, which helps to dissolve things like sunscreen, makeup, dirt, long-lasting lipstick, and waterproof mascara—all in one pass of the tissue. Another plus is that the cream cleansers have moisturizers in them which help save time by removing the need to put moisturizer on at night. If your skin has a tendency to be oily you can still use this trick, only in the morning apply a gel cleanser instead of the cream.

In the morning try using a combination cream that streamlines the different types of creams that are used in the morning. There are combination creams that are considered "all-in-one" creams. Typically they include a moisturizer, foundation, sunscreen, and even an anti-oxidant in the cream. If you like the products that you are using and don't want to switch to an all-in-one combination product, you can make your own. Place all of your creams into the palm of your hand and apply them together, instead of taking the time to apply each one individually. When you are running late or in a rush, this little time-saver can help get you out the door quicker.

One of the biggest time-stealers is putting on your face cream too thick. When this happens you can spend anywhere from ten to fifteen minutes waiting for your skin to absorb the cream before you can apply the rest of your make-up. Avoid doing this by applying just a small amount (about the size of a dime) on key places on your face such as your cheeks, nose, chin and forehead, then all you have to do is blend the cream together.

A great shortcut for exfoliating your skin when you are in a hurry is to place a lip balm or gloss onto your cheekbones; just a little dab will do. This helps to give a healthy glow to the skin.

Facials help improve the skin's tone. A fast facial is to apply egg whites with just a little bit of flour and then with your fingers smooth it on your face. Let it dry; it should take less than ten minutes. This is only a temporary solution, but it will tighten your pores and help to give a fresh look to your face.
