Sometimes I love wearing hats. Sometimes the right hat will set off my whole ensemble in just the right way. However, who likes dealing with hat hair? I don't and hat hair is often hard to avoid. There are a few tricks however you can employ to offset the hat hair look and they're not too difficult—you can defeat hat hair!
One of the things I've found most useful when wearing hats is either to find a hat that you'll be wearing all day or wear a hat that you'll be taking on and off all day. With the first option, if you don't take off your hat all day, then you won't have to worry about hat hair. This hat can be a baseball cap (if you're going to be outside all day) or any other kind of accessory hat that you plan on wearing all day. With the other option, pick a hat that you won't be wearing all day and make sure that you don't wear it for any extended amounts of time (meaning don't wear it long enough for it to make your hair look funny). With this option, you should also carry a brush or some other styling device with you that you can use to liven up your hair if it begins to look like hat hair.
Another trick you can try is to sport a hairdo that is pretty simple in the first place, meaning hard to mess up too bad. Usually if you just wear your hair down (and it can be straight or slightly curled under), you can pull off minimal hat effects regarding your hair.
Dealing with hat hair is completely possible and once you decide to take control of your own hair, you can really control how bad your hat hair is. Feel free to wear hats because now you know how to control the hat hair instead of the hat hair controlling you!
