The Best Hairstyle for You

Written by Charlotte Wood (last updated May 6, 2020)

So many times I see a hairstyle in a magazine, on a celebrity, or on one of my friends and I think it looks so cute, but I know it could never work out for me. Why is that so? How is it that some hairstyles just don't suit? The key lies in making your overall look, hair included, conducive to your personality.

Your hairdo should reflect your person and who you like to be. I'm more of a reserved person and thus my hair reflects that. I like style but I like it simple and more understated than wacky. When I get my color done I always for more natural looking colors as opposed to stark contrast and boldness. My sister on the other hand doesn't usually like cutting edge haircuts, but she does like broad highlights and hair color that isn't supposed to look too natural. She doesn't go as far as out-of-control colors, but she does spice up her head of hair a bit more than I do. That's also just how her personality is. She's more outgoing than I and likes to try new things, whereas I prefer to stay inside my comfort zone.

In many cases, you naturally gravitate toward your best hairstyle because that's what you're comfortable with. An athletic woman very well could prefer shorter hair or hair that doesn't necessitate a lot of upkeep. Someone with a high profile job probably needs and feels comfortable with a professional hairstyle that still is trendy and expresses a good degree of confidence. I'm not especially active, I definitely like to look trendy, and I like variety in how I do my hair so I tend to sport longer hair with which I can do a myriad of styles. I can pull it up if I want to go more sporty or leave it down for a polished look or make it curly for a flirty night out. I don't mind a process to get ready and so my hair usually reflects my mood and can easily fit in with whatever style I want to achieve.

You should talk with your hair dresser to really see what styles are most flattering and then you can always find a style that you'll feel comfortable with. Remember that even if a style looks good, it may not be the best hairstyle for you because the best style is greatly influenced by your personality and comfort level. The styles that look best are always accompanied with confidence and poise. You need a style that flatters you and that you can pull off with flair and ease!
