Applying Lipstick

Whenever my mom goes out anywhere or starts posing for a picture, she always puts on a quick dab of lipstick and she almost always looks composed and ready to go. I am not quite like she is when it comes to lipstick and I don't apply it near as frequent as she does, but I do know the power it has to pull an outfit together! Whether it's lipstick or lip gloss, that extra touch on your lips is enough to make you look professional and polished.

Lipstick isn't my preference of lip cosmetic to wear, but it can definitely give you the look you want. If you do decide to use lipstick be sure to use a lip liner with it. If you don't a liner, then the color will probably bleed and you could end up looking like a clown—ah! For lasting color liner is a must as well. You can fill in most of your lip with liner, put a layer of powder over it t seal it in, and then apply the lipstick. This will give you lasting color all day long. The color should be appropriate for the occasion and the outfit you're wearing. If you're wearing fall colors then you probably shouldn't try and pull off a hot pink lipstick. Bright lip colors however can really add some dazzle to an outfit—don't hesitate to use bright colors if it goes with your look. Occasion also needs to be considered; if you're headed to a more somber event, tone the lipstick down but if you're out for a night on the town, feel free to wear the fuchsia!

I usually prefer lip gloss and think it's a great way to polish up an outfit. Lip gloss is shiny, sometimes sparkly, and sophisticated—a quick fix to a bedraggled end-of-the-day look. With lip gloss I like to mix colors. I usually combine a rosy pink with a creamy gold to create a flirty shimmer. One of the reasons I prefer lip gloss to lipstick is that it's smoother and I like the understated look of lip gloss. It puts a needed finishing touch on any outfit from a Saturday trip to the mall to a glitzy Friday night date.

For any kind of outfit, lipstick or lip gloss does the trick to pull an entire look together. When you feel you're missing that one thing you can't put your finger on try some pizzazz on your lips—it will give you more class, style, and confidence as you go out to dominate!
