Relaxing with a Foot Massage

Written by Charlotte Wood (last updated February 7, 2020)

I'm sure you've all had those days where you're stressed out, you're running around for hours, you get home late, and you just want to hop into some lounging clothes. After crazy days where you're left feeling almost inexpressibly tired, you just want to put your feet up and relax. Your feet are often great indicators of how you're feeling; the more your feet hurt, the longer day you've had. If you really need to relax and your feet are hurting particularly bad, then perhaps a foot massage may be the way for you to go. If you need to really relax, get a foot massage.

Foot massages feel great and can really do a lot to help you relax and loosen up a bit, especially after a long day or at the end of a particularly stressful point in the month, the year, the week. A foot massage signals ultimate pampering, the epitome of relaxation and letting it all go. There are a couple ways you can go get a foot massage: you can either go somewhere to get a foot massage, or you can get one in the comfort of your own home. I prefer the latter simply because it means that I wouldn't have to go out anywhere else. You may have a life that's always on the run, and when you're tired, you don't want to go anywhere else. Opt for the at-home foot massage.

The best way for the home style foot massage is to have a loved one do it for you. (If you give yourself a foot massage, it kind of defeats the whole point.) Some people really know how to give great foot massages, and others need practice; if your foot massager belongs in the latter category, then why can't you be there for them to practice! Here are some tips for those wishing to improve their foot massaging skills: Simply do what you would like to have done to your feet. Rub where you know your feet often hurt. Rub hard or soft depending on what the recipient wants, and then rub according to how you'd like your feet to be rubbed soft or hard.

Foot massages are great, and if you have the opportunity to have one, then take it! Foot massages can really help you relax and let out some steam, allowing you to recharge your batteries and just take a few minutes for yourself. So much of your day is devoted to others, so take 15 minutes and allow yourself to be pampered!
