Great Looking Bare Legs

Written by Charlotte Wood (last updated July 1, 2022)

It's summertime and this is the time when the sun beats down, gives you that great tan, and you have to admit it: you look great. With the weather so hot and the styles nice and summery of course you want to show off a bit of leg, but you need to make sure you have great looking bare legs. How do you do it? It's definitely not difficult to pull off amazing bare legs and this will most definitely help you on your way to looking great all over all summer long.

First you need to take care of your legs like you should do with the rest of your body (e.g. eating nutritiously and regular exercise). Once you have the toned legs with the slight tan (that tan can either be natural, from a tannin salon, or the lotion at your local drugstore) you need to know what to wear that will best accentuate your gorgeous legs. You want to be in with the latest fashions and look great in all of them. Here are just a few guidelines to keep in mind as you shop for your summer wardrobe.

You can have great looking bare legs without looking like a tramp. You don't need to show it all, in fact you shouldn't show it all, to get the effect you want and to make that hot summer fashion statement. Skirts are always a great summer staple and one that almost always makes your legs look great. Especially in the summer, skirts look best without stockings so this is a perfect opportunity to show off those gorgeous bare legs. Wear tea length skirts or skirts that hit you just at the knee; I wouldn't advise going any higher because thighs are a dubious area and honestly we don't need to see that much! The best kind of skirts to wear are those with some flair and flounce; these kind best flatter the legs and keep you looking great.

There are also great shorts out there that are made for bare legs like yours. If you feel like you must wear short shorts and can't get over that need, don't wear shorts that go past your mid thigh. I can't tell you how many half-butts I've seen peeking out of too short shorts and it's most definitely a picture I wish I could erase—it's gross. Don't participate in the bottom-baring shorts movement. Bermuda shorts are also good for showcasing those calves. Capris, a long time staple of summer wardrobes, are excellent for making bare legs look absolutely amazing. The shorter capris are most excellent for flattering your bare calves.

The first step in achieving great looking bare legs is obviously working for great legs (notice that you have to work for them) and then the key is in finding the clothes that best flatter them. Follow this simple advice and you'll be a summer knockout!
