Affordable Plastic Surgery

Written by Emily McBride (last updated February 26, 2021)

Plastic surgery is becoming increasingly more popular. There are many different types, such as breast augmentation, reduction, and reconstruction; tummy tucks and liposuction; face lifts, rhinoplasty, and lip injections and implants; and eyelid surgery. Some get plastic surgery because of accidents, deformities, or mastectomies. Others just want to improve their appearance so that they can feel better about themselves.

Before you even get started, you need to reconcile that, no matter what good deals you find, safe plastic surgery is not going to be "cheap." You need to be able to spend a large amount of money if you are set on having work done, even if you find a good deal. Some will claim that it's better to go to less-developed countries so that you can save money, but if you search online, it won't be hard to find horror stories that will hopefully dissuade you from trying that option without thoroughly researching it first. There are some countries that have better health care and plastic surgery than others, so if you are set on trying that option, make sure that you really do research all you can about the quality and reputation of the plastic surgeon that you are looking at. Another thing to keep in mind is that you will be spending money on traveling to and from that country. For example, the cost of a plane ticket to India and back might not make it worth it for you to go there to get work done.

Another way that you may be able to find affordable plastic surgery is to shop around. Don't pick the first plastic surgeon you hear about without price-checking with other plastic surgeons first. Some surgeons may have specials or coupons, especially when the economy is down. Once you have found a few plastic surgeons that you like, research them so that you can make sure they are going to give you quality service. Search their names on a search engine like Google, or check a database of certified plastic surgeons. You can also ask about certification in their offices.

It may be tempting to use the cheapest plastic surgeon you find, but keep in mind that, for the most part, the more money you pay, the better quality plastic surgery you will receive. If you're not careful, the body part that you are attempting to fix or enhance can become damaged or deformed-looking. There are some surgeries that are hard to reverse, so make sure that you are positive that you want this procedure done before you waste time and money on it.
