Choosing a Spa or Resort

Written by Charlotte Wood (last updated March 11, 2020)

You have a few vacation days to use and you definitely want to use them, but don't know exactly what to do for those vacation days. Where should you go? What should you do? Whom should you go with? All of these questions are important when deciding how to spend extra vacation time. If you're looking for some quiet time, for some alone time, for some time to relax and recharge your batteries, then going to a spa or resort the way to go. Now that you've finally decided on a way to spend your vacation time, you can now focus on choosing which spa or resort to go to. Here are a few things to keep in mind.

Cost is one of the biggest concerns when choosing a spa or resort. Spas and resorts are a little pricey by nature, but you still have your less expensive resorts and your high end millionaire resorts. Pick a price range. Budget your money and decide what you can afford. You can then proceed to make an actual decision on what to choose. Then you need to decide where you want to go. Do you want somewhere tropical? Do you want somewhere a little chillier? Do you want mountains? The country? The beach? Deciding these things will help you narrow down exactly what spas you'll want to choose.

Figure out what your personal needs are. What are you looking for in a spa or resort? Are you looking for pampering or more independent activity or a mix of the two? Each spa and resort caters to different needs: some offer a variety of activities, some offer an array of pampering services, some offer both. Decide what you want and how you want to spend your time.

Call ahead to make reservations at your chosen spa or resort. Call to get more information if you're still not sure exactly which spa or resort you want to go to. Ask questions, go online and look at customer reviews, get recommendations from friends and family. The best way to choose a spa or resort is to do your homework and do it thoroughly. The more information you have, the better choice you'll be able to make. Your extra vacation days should be truly vacations, and so you want to make the most out of your time off. Make an educated decision about spas and resorts so your vacation days will be days to truly remember.
