Stop Your Fingernails from Splitting

Summary: Fingernails are one of those things that are easy to take care of, so you should take advantage of that. No one wants weak fingernails, so here are some tips on stopping your fingernails from splitting.

If you have weak fingernails, you might have problems with your fingernails splitting. This can be really frustrating, leaving you with broken fingernails, and overall unattractive fingers. If you are looking to remedy this problem and stop your fingernails from splitting, then here are a few guidelines to follow.

For stopping your fingernails from splitting, the best way it will work is to fix the splitting, and then work on building and maintaining healthy fingernails. If your nails are currently splitting, then follow these procedures to do a quick fix. You need to trim your nails down far enough so you trim the splitting part off. This is important because if you don't trim off the splitting part then your nail will only be inclined to split more. After you trim your nails, keep them filed and short.

You now need to start building up the strength of your nails. You do this by keeping them short for a while and giving them strengthening treatments. The best way to strengthen your nails is actually to apply a nail strengthening nail polish to your weak fingernails. There are special nail polishes out there that are specially geared toward strengthening weak nails. If you apply that on a regular basis and keep your nails trimmed and filed for a while, then your nails will eventually get stronger, thus avoiding the splitting problem. You definitely need to avoid acrylic nails, because those will only aggravate your nails and weaken them; acrylic nails can even give you other nail problems like nail fungus. The stronger your nails become, you'll be more able to start growing your nails long again. Until your fingernails are strengthened, however, you'll need to keep them short.

So, if splitting fingernails is a serious problem for you, rest assured there are ways to fix it and enjoy healthy, beautiful nails! If you just revamp the care of your nails, then you'll be able to build healthy nails, which will allow for longer and more beautiful nails!
