Applying Hairspray for a Natural Look

Summary: You usually want your hair to look natural and hairspray can either help you in that endeavor or destroy that goal. Make sure the hairspray you use helps your natural look.

Hairspray can be a tricky area of beauty. You want your hair to maintain that perfection of appearance, but you don't want it to get sticky or to look sprayed. How can you achieve awesome hair and natural looking hair at the same time? The key lies in choosing the right types of hairspray and knowing your hair type well enough to work with your hair instead of against it.

If you're going for the natural look, then you should buy hairspray that's made for more natural looks. You don't want any of that high powered hairspray because it will just defeat your whole purpose. Most hairsprays come in gradients and usually one of those gradients has something to do with "natural hold." Go for that one! That variety of hairspray will give just enough extra to your hair so that it will stay, but not so much that your hair will look like hard plastic.

Another important thing to keep in mind when applying hairspray for a natural look is that sometimes your hair won't cooperate, no matter how much hairspray you put in. I've had many a day when my hair won't do what I want it to do and no matter how much hairspray I put in, I'm still stuck with limp hair—sometimes it just won't work.

Actually when I put too much hairspray in when my hair obviously isn't cooperating, my hair ends up looking worse. If your hair isn't showing signs of cooperation, then try a different look for that day and try again the next day. You don't want to force your hair to do anything, because not only will that not really work, but you could also end up damaging your hair and then good hair days will be few and far between.

Fortunately it is possible to achieve a natural look with hairspray and the tricks to that look aren't too hard. You need to remember to buy the right kind of hairspray and after that, you need to learn how to work with your hair and if it's not working, then don't force it because you'll just end up disappointed.
