Successful Botox

Summary: Botox is becoming more and more popular these days so you should know what it is and what it does. You also need to be aware of the risks and precautions involved.

Botox is one of those newer, trendy treatments many women (and even men) are getting to make themselves look younger. You're injected with a solution that's actually pretty toxic, and it relaxes your muscles so the wrinkles fall out a bit, supposedly making you look younger. (The word Botox is actually a contraction, derived from the words botulinum toxin, and is a registered trademark of Allergan, Inc.)

There are a few guidelines you should follow however to keep yourself safe when undergoing Botox and thereby having a successful experience. You should first and foremost consult your family doctor or another objective party about Botox. (Don't go to the actual administering physician, because his or her opinion may not be free from bias and therefore not in your best interests.) You want to make sure that you're physically up to the procedure and that the toxicity of the chemicals won't have a harmful effect on any other part of your body.

Make sure you know exactly what's going to happen with the procedure and that you are fully briefed with the side effects and the expected results of the treatment. You want to know everything you can about what's going on and what should be happening so you can spot if anything is going awry. You also need to choose a trustworthy doctor. Get references, check out the practice's history, and ensure that the surgeon is legitimate.

Another thing to keep in mind when dealing with Botox is that you shouldn't have too many injections because that could result in negative effects on the muscle functionality of your face. Too many Botox injections could lead to temporary or even permanent paralysis of more significant muscles of your face. Go into the Botox movement with discretion and keep your health at the forefront of your concerns, rather than your looks.
