Nail Art to Help You Stand Out

When I initially think "nail art" I tend to think of the scary stereotype of long, claw-like nails with pictures of jungle animals on them. While that kind of nail art definitely makes you stand out, you might want to avoid gaudy and scary. Nail art can be tasteful though an help stand out in the right way. Combine your personality with a bit of taste and you're set to go!

Nail art doesn't mean pictures as much as it really means designs. With designs I think that you have so many more possibilities and opportunities for expressing yourself than you do with just pictures. My favorite nail designs are relatively simple. There are only one or two colors and the pattern of those colors on the nails are simple as well. Sparkles are always fun and if you have an especially bubbly personality, rhinestones can look great too!

The thing to keep in mind first and foremost is taste. Scary nails are just that: scary. When in doubt, opt for the more toned-down designs or styles. You want your nails to help you stand out, not just your nails to stand out. Whatever design you choose to get on your nails, make sure that it's a reflection of your personality because otherwise you probably won't like it and you won't feel comfortable in it. Nail art is a great outlet for personal expression and there options are limitless as to what you can do.

If you need ideas or tips on what design works best for you, it's always a good idea to consult with your nail stylist and even your friends and family to get a good idea of what would flatter you best. If you do decide on actual designs rather than color patterns, use the extra things in moderation. Don't use too many rhinestones, stickers, or any other adhesive. Too much is not good and will make the nails stand out rather than you. Everything that goes into you appearance—clothes, hair, makeup, nails—should accent you and your features. You want to be the focus.

Nail art can be a great way to draw some good natured attention and it can do a lot to add to your look and way of expressing yourself. Be aware of what looks good and what doesn't and always remember that you are the one that should stand out and not solely your nails!
