Organic Makeup

Summary: All of the synthetic material in cosmetics is sickening. Learn about organic and know what you're putting on your face. You want to be as natural as possible!

Organic everything is flooding the consumer market. You have entire grocery stores committed to selling organic food and clothing brands dedicated to the production of completely organic clothing. If you're one of those people who sees the importance of going organic, then I'm sure you see the value in organic makeup.

Think of all the synthetic materials poured into most cosmetics on the market. And now think of all those manmade materials coating your face. Are you sickened? Understandable. Being organic-conscious with makeup is very similar to becoming organic-conscious with your food. You have to read the labels. Go to your makeup bag and take out the first piece of makeup you see. Read the label. Freaked out? Yeah, you've been putting that on your face.

Just like with going organic with your food, you need you impose a lifestyle change if you want to go organic with your makeup. You won't be able to indulge in your favorite MAC or Clinique colors; you'll have to shop around more for the products you need and want, and you'll probably end up having to pay a little bit more than you're used to. Something comforting about going with organic cosmetics is that you won't always have to go to separate, more expensive suppliers. You will be able to find several of the items you need in the regular cosmetics aisle.

There are certain ingredients and elements that you should avoid: aluminum, artificial colors, dibutyl phthalate, formaldehydes, fragrances, isopropyl alcohol, parabens, paraffin, phenoxyethanol, and talc.

You'll have the most luck checking out mineral cosmetics, which have the purpose of going natural. (You still need to check the labels, though, just to make sure!) Like with anything organic, the key is to simply be aware of what is actually in the substances you put on your face everyday. While you may use regular makeup and not notice a difference, it is important to make sure that you're not unintentionally harming your body. You want to keep your body safe and healthy, so just make sure you know what you're doing to it, even if you don't decide to go organic with makeup!

Living Nature - www.livingnature.com/whysafeandnatural.cfm - produce cosmetics without synthetic preservatives. OK, I am supporting locals - they are based in my local town <grins>, but they are sold all over the world.
