Selecting a Cosmetic Bag

Summary: Cosmetic bags can be great for storing or toting those toiletry essentials your may need. Here are a few tips to follow when you're selecting your own cosmetic bag.

I remember when I was in seventh grade and for Christmas I got a bunch of makeup to get me started in the cosmetic world. I was so excited, and I soon learned that the older you get, the more makeup you acquire, and you need to find more places to put your makeup. One of the best ways to store your makeup is in a cosmetic bag. However, when you go to the store to check out what cosmetic bags are available, it's easy to be overwhelmed by the selection. If you're a bit daunted, here are a few tips to keep in mind as you select your new cosmetic bag.

Cosmetic bags are primarily for consolidating all your beauty supplies (regardless of what those supplies are) and so the kind of bag you buy will be determined by what you plan on putting into it. Cosmetic bags come in a variety of styles with a variety of functions, allowing you to pick whatever you want for whatever you need—it's very conducive to fitting your own personal cosmetic bag needs!

There are the big bags that don't have any other pockets or anything in them, good for basically whatever you want. If the bag is big enough, you can fit all your face-care supplies, plus your contact solution and glasses case. It's usually good to have a bag that fits the bulk of what you need; you don't want your toiletries to be so scattered in your luggage that you can't find anything. If you can, you definitely want to consolidate your cosmetic supplies into only a few bags.

There are quite a few bags, however, that are smaller and great for those smaller pieces of cosmetics, like makeup. Smaller bags can come just as a bag or with pockets and zippers. Cosmetic bags come equipped with pockets, zippers, and hidey-holes in every size. Whether you choose these kinds of cosmetics is completely up to you and your cosmetic bag needs. I've always found that compartmentalized cosmetic bags work great for jewelry; there is also a kind of cosmetic bag that has zippered bags that fold up into one cosmetic tote, and that is great for consolidating everything into one easy location.

Once you select the type of cosmetic bag you want, you can then go on to the really fun part of choosing the colors! Especially in today's age, things like cosmetic bags come in just about any color or pattern you can imagine. You can get basic black or patent leather red or green leopard print. You can get it to match your luggage, your purse, your bedding, whatever. Once you've passed the stage of selecting a specific type of cosmetic bag, the rest is just fun and easy!
