Expert Eye Makeup

Summary: Is there a way to look fabulous without your own personal makeup artist? With a few simple steps and following the basic tenets of makeup application, you can go from morning breath to knockout in just a few minutes!

I often wish I had a pill I could take to magically make me ready for the day. I could sleep in until 15 minutes before I'd have to leave, take the pill, and then I could leisurely enjoy my breakfast already looking fabulous. My clothes would be clean and pressed, my hair amazing, and my makeup stellar—I'd be ready for the world. Alas our world is not the Jetson's, however much we wish it could be, so we must resort to the "pill-less" way of looking fantastic. You can usually find a suitable outfit that will flatter your figure, if hair is an issue, pull it back in a stylish pony tail, but what do you do when your face isn't cooperating? Put a paper bag over your head? Wrong! You learn how to put on makeup like an expert.

However daunting this task of beauty may seem, I assure it is within the realms of possibility. All you need to keep in mind is the primary objective of makeup: it's supposed to make you look prettier by accenting your features, not change your face. Disasters happen when people try to change their face. Start off by picking flattering colors and give yourself variety by choosing a few different color palettes to match your moods or outfits. Also, dismiss the "smoky eye" ideal some women have of everyday makeup because the fact is, it's not for everyday. It's completely acceptable to wear more toned down makeup on a normal, run-of-the-mill day.

The eyes are always the hardest to make up and the best way to avoid cosmetic catastrophe is to keep things simple. Choose three colors similar in tone and use them to add depth to your eyes. The general rule is to apply the lightest shade on your brow and lower part of your lid, the medium shade to the middle of your lid to connect the highlight color, and the darkest, most pronounced to the corners as an accent. The eyeliner and mascara then tie it all in and complete the look. The cosmetic world wants us to look incredible! Take advantage of it!

Most women's problem regarding makeup is they think they have to create a mask of makeup, which leads to unfortunate results. You don't need half a pound of makeup to look good. Your eyes don't need to end up like Cirque du Soliel! The best part is, you can steer away from messy and look classy in just a few minutes. Until we find that magic makeup pill, good luck!

Pink eye shadow color palette

Apply a light, light pink shimmer shadow on your lid and under the brow. This will serve better to highlight the eyes. Next put on a dusty rose in to connect the other light pink you just put on. Finish it off with a deep plum put just in the corner creases. You avoided the crying eyes look and achieved sexy!

Metallic eye shadow color palette

Apply a light, slightly shimmery gold on the lid and under the brow and follow that with a deeper bronze in the middle of the lid. This goes over most of the eyelid. Usually that's enough to achieve the casual, natural look you want, but if necessary you can put on an even darker metallic brown in the crease.
